Our Approach

At Lone Lake Physical Therapy, we believe in the combination of manual treatment and therapeutic exercise as the most beneficial way to address physical impairments. By removing joint and muscular restrictions before initiating exercise, our patients make a more complete recovery and experience significantly less discomfort during rehabilitation.

Individual Treatments

With one-on-one appointments we can focus on helping patients understand the source of their pain and restriction. We specialize in recognizing abnormal patterns to help our patients learn a different and less damaging way to move and let go of tension. This knowledge empowers each patient to learn what they can do to manage their condition independently.

Shannon is a highly trained practitioner in the Counterstrain technique (she has completed all course work including all the Mastery Courses through the Counterstrain Academy, and has been a teacher assistant with the Jones Institute), and Jessica is training in counterstrain treatment. Counterstrain is a skilled passive manual therapy technique. It works with the nervous system and receptors in the deep fascia. With many conditions the normal healing process is slowed or completely stalled because of guarding and misinformation transmitted from one part of the body to the brain. With counterstrain the dysfunctional information is corrected and in turn the inappropriate responses (muscle guarding, decreased range of motion, pain and inflammation) are shut off. This modification allows the body to start a normal healing process and addresses issues that are not able to resolve with other techniques.
